Hyderabad: Former Telangana minister Mallareddy has asserted that he is the number one leader in state politics, citing his work ethic, good intentions, and commitment to public service. In a recent media interview, Mallareddy said his rise from humble beginnings in business to establishing educational institutions and hospitals was driven by his dedication and hard work.
He noted that his global travels inspired him to bring world-class education to Telangana. “Some countries are eight years ahead of us. We must grow in the same way,” he remarked. Clarifying a past political controversy, Mallareddy said his remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy were a response to criticism directed at him within his own constituency. “I never abused anyone. I only reacted when provoked. Revanth even attended our granddaughter’s wedding. Political disputes are normal,” he added.
Mallareddy also addressed speculation about his political affiliations, stating that although he did not intend to join Congress, his son had explored the possibility of contesting as an MP from the party, which did not materialize. “Congress seems unstable to me,” he commented.
Dismissing notions of a political heir, Mallareddy said only 25% of his focus is on politics, while his primary commitment lies in education. “Universities last for generations. Educational institutions are permanent and leave a lasting legacy,” he said, adding that every student has the right to succeed. His life’s goal, he stated, is to produce the world’s best doctors and engineers. He also reflected on his tenure as Labour Minister under KCR’s leadership, calling it one of the most productive phases of his career.
