HYDRA has taken a significant step in addressing illegal constructions built by encroaching on Hyderabad’s lakes and drainage systems. The team, led by Commissioner Ranganath, will undertake a two-day field study in Bengaluru to examine the revival of lakes, methods for treating sewage water, and disaster management strategies implemented in the city.
Revival of Key Lakes in Hyderabad
The team plans to focus on the revival of several lakes in Hyderabad, including the Erragunta Lake in Bachupally, Sunnacherruvu in Madhapur, Nallacheruvu in Kukatpally, and Appacherruvu in Rajendranagar. These lakes will be restored as part of efforts to improve the city’s environmental and water management systems.
Additionally, with heavy rains often causing flooding in the city, HYDRA officials are set to meet with disaster management experts from Bengaluru to discuss solutions for managing floodwaters and resolving traffic-related issues in Hyderabad.
