Hydra Halts Demolitions Due to Heavy Rains

Hyderabad: ‘Hydra,’ which has been actively targeting illegal constructions, has temporarily paused its demolition activities due to the recent heavy rains that have lashed the state. The continuous downpour over the past two days has led to widespread waterlogging, with low-lying areas severely affected. In Hyderabad, where the impact of the rains has been particularly severe, the entire Hydra team has shifted its focus to relief efforts.

Hydra teams are now involved in monsoon relief operations across the Greater Hyderabad region. Hydra Commissioner A.V. Ranganath has been personally overseeing the situation, inspecting waterlogged areas and low-lying regions. He has been assessing the causes of flooding in various colonies, particularly around lakes, and marking the most affected areas based on water levels. It is anticipated that notices will be issued to these areas once the rains subside. Notices have already been served to constructions within the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits, and additional areas are expected to receive notices soon. Residents who have already received notices have been ordered to vacate their homes within a week.

In a related development, it has been reported that the Hydra team has already demolished over 200 illegal structures within the HMDA limits, including the Nagarjuna Convention Center. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has emphasized that everyone is equal before the law, following which notices were also issued to the house and office of his brother, Tirupati Reddy. After the monsoon subsides, the Hydra team is expected to resume demolition activities, targeting structures including Akbaruddin Owaisi’s Fatima College and KTR’s farmhouse.
