Hyderabad’s Hydra Commissioner Ranganath made a crucial statement regarding the survey of houses along the Musi River. He clarified that the ongoing surveys have no connection with Hydra and slammed rumors that demolitions are planned. He emphasized that no notices have been issued by Hydra to anyone in the Musi area so far, and the widespread claims of mass demolitions are inaccurate. Ranganath criticized those spreading false information for political gain and warned that strict action would be taken against such misleading campaigns.
Demolitions by Hydra have been ongoing in several parts of Hyderabad. However, a tragic incident occurred involving Gurumpalli Buchchamma, a resident of Yadav Basti in Kukatpally, who allegedly committed suicide due to the fear of Hydra. Buchchamma and her husband, Shivayya, had built houses as dowry gifts for their three daughters.
These homes, built within the Full Tank Level (FTL) boundaries of local water bodies, were targeted for demolition by Hydra. Upon learning that the houses gifted to her daughters were at risk, Buchchamma reportedly took her own life, overwhelmed by the distress, according to family members.
