Hyderabad is facing a growing health crisis as a surge in viral infections is leading to a concerning number of child fatalities. According to recent data from Niloufer Hospital, approximately ten children are dying daily due to these infections. The situation in other hospitals remains under review. Niloufer Hospital’s outpatient department is overwhelmed, with numerous parents bringing their children in for treatment. The infections are causing severe symptoms including high fever, cough, and skin problems, which are often progressing to critical conditions.
Symptoms and Concerns
The city is currently experiencing a range of viral infections that start with common cold and cough and escalate to persistent high fevers. Symptoms also include loss of appetite, skin issues, and fainting. Some patients are showing swelling in limbs and developing rashes.
Preventive Measures and Treatment:
Doctors are expressing concerns over the rising death toll due to inadequate preventive measures. Issues such as poor hygiene, stagnant water near homes, and non-compliance with medical advice are contributing to the spread of these infections and subsequent fatalities. Additionally, many children are only receiving treatment at critical stages of the illness. Health professionals emphasize the importance of early intervention and timely treatment to prevent such deaths.
