Hyderabad: A young woman sustained serious injuries after jumping from a moving MMTS train in an attempt to escape a sexual assault near Kompally. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, has prompted a high-priority investigation by the police.
According to officials, the 23-year-old victim, a native of Anantapur district, works at a private firm in Medchal. She had traveled to Secunderabad for a mobile phone repair and was returning home via MMTS. The woman boarded the ladies’ compartment, which initially had two other female passengers. However, as the train reached Alwal station, they disembarked, leaving her alone.
Taking advantage of the situation, an unidentified man approached the victim and attempted to assault her. Fearing for her safety, she jumped off the train near a railway bridge close to Kompally, sustaining multiple injuries.
Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and shifted the victim to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. SP Chandana Deepti visited the victim and provided updates on the case.
“A special team has been deployed to track down the accused. We are analyzing CCTV footage to determine where the suspect boarded the train,” said SP Deepti.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspect at the earliest.
