Hyderabad: Senior Journalist Ravi Prakash has strongly criticized the recent Kurnool bus fire that killed 20 people, describing it as a symptom of systemic failures in public transportation. In a series of tweets, he called the tragedy “not the first flame and, sadly, not the last,” highlighting the dangers arising from privatization of state-run transport.
Ravi Prakash emphasized that his fight, dating back to his TV9 days, has always been for the people, workers, commuters, and “the forgotten ones who keep this state moving.” He warned that what is unfolding is not merely an accident, but the consequence of “privatization gone rogue” and a system that dismantled the RTC, selling public transport to private operators.
He questioned political accountability, asking whether leaders prioritize profits from illegal fleets or have the courage to protect the public. “How many more buses have to burn? How many lives have to be sacrificed? How many families must lose their breadwinners before someone admits the roads of Telangana and Andhra are paved with corruption, blood, and silence?” Ravi Prakash wrote, adding that “these flames aren’t just fire. They’re the pyre of a dying system,” underscoring the urgent need for reforms in public transport.
This bus flare isn’t the first flame and sadly, it won’t be the last.
