BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Vivekananda Goud have filed petitions seeking the disqualification of three BRS MLAs—Kadiyam Srihari, Danam Nagender, and Tellam Venkatrao, who recently joined the Congress party. The petitions were presented in court yesterday, where legal arguments were made regarding the matter.
Counsel Gandra Mohana Rao, representing the petitioners, contended that the MLAs who switched parties should be disqualified immediately. He requested the court to direct the Speaker to take appropriate action. Gandra Mohana Rao highlighted that no action had been taken despite a complaint lodged with the Speaker and referenced several Supreme Court judgments relevant to the case.
The court has adjourned the hearing to August 1. The three MLAs in question Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Tellam Venkatrao had originally won their seats under the BRS banner before joining the Congress. The petitioners have requested the Speaker to disqualify these MLAs in light of their party switch.
