Amaravati: Political realignments are gaining momentum in Andhra Pradesh following the formation of the coalition government. Leaders who held key positions in the previous administration are now exploring options to switch allegiance. In a notable development, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday visited the Polavaram project and interacted with displaced families.
During the visit, former YSRCP leader and ex-MLC Jayamangala Venkata Ramana met Chandrababu Naidu and, in a striking gesture, fell at his feet. The incident has fueled speculation about his potential return to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Venkata Ramana, who started his political career with the TDP in 1999, won the 2009 Assembly elections from the Kaikaluru constituency in Krishna district. He later contested the 2019 elections on a TDP ticket but was unsuccessful. Despite his loss, he continued as the party’s constituency in-charge. However, ahead of the 2023 MLC elections, he joined the YSRCP in February and was elected as an MLC under the MLA quota in March.
Following the YSRCP’s defeat in the 2024 elections, Venkata Ramana resigned from the party and his MLC position, though his resignation is still pending with the Legislative Council Chairman. His recent meeting with Chandrababu Naidu has intensified speculation regarding his re-entry into the TDP.
