Amaravati: Former Pithapuram MLA Pendum Dorababu is set to join Jana Sena Party on March 9, following his resignation from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). His decision comes amid a wave of defections from YSRCP after the alliance government took office in Andhra Pradesh.
Several leaders have already joined TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP, while others are finalizing their political moves. Speculation regarding Dorababu’s exit gained momentum after his resignation from YSRCP.
Meeting with Pawan Kalyan
On Monday, Dorababu met Jana Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri, accompanied by his family. During the meeting, he expressed his willingness to join the party, to which Pawan Kalyan gave his approval.

As part of his formal induction into Jana Sena, Dorababu will join the party in Vijayawada on March 9 in the presence of Pawan Kalyan, along with MPTC, ZPTC members, and municipal councillors.
Political Background
Dorababu won the Pithapuram Assembly seat in 2019 but was denied a ticket in the 2024 elections, as YSRCP fielded Vanga Geetha from the constituency after Pawan Kalyan decided to contest from Pithapuram. The election saw Pawan Kalyan register a landslide victory, reshaping the political landscape in the region.
