Khan has been held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since August 2023, and recently, authorities reportedly denied permission for his family members to meet him, raising concerns among his party leaders.
Reports indicate that Khan has nearly lost sight in one eye and has faced multiple assaults in jail, contributing to a further decline in his health. Following these developments, he was allegedly moved to a hospital for treatment without informing the public or his party, prompting PTI leaders to criticize the government for negligence.
PTI officials expressed concern that Khan’s life could be at risk and demanded that any medical treatment be administered in the presence of family doctors and with the consent of his relatives. They also accused the government of violating his fundamental rights by failing to ensure proper healthcare while he remains in custody.
Separately, it has been reported that Khan will soon be transferred to a newly constructed jail in Islamabad, expected to be completed within the next two months. Authorities have stated that the new facility will provide improved medical facilities, ensuring better healthcare for inmates, including the former prime minister.
