Nagaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri District: In a troubling incident, 33 students from a minority Gurukul school in Nagaram, Keesara mandal, were hospitalized after consuming Mysore bondas served at the school. The students experienced vomiting and abdominal pain and were promptly shifted to the Ghatkesar Government Hospital for treatment.
Doctors reported that the students were suffering from indigestion issues due to food contamination. While 15 students were discharged and returned to their hostel, the remaining students are still undergoing treatment.

Rise in Food Poisoning Cases in Schools
Recent weeks have witnessed an alarming increase in food poisoning incidents across Telangana schools. In a similar case, 25 students from a Zilla Parishad school in Maganoor, Narayanpet district, fell ill after consuming a contaminated midday meal. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy condemned the incident and directed the district collector to suspend officials found negligent.
Another incident occurred in Karimnagar district, where students from a government school in Burgupalli, Gangadhara mandal, suffered severe discomfort after a midday meal. Medical staff treated several students for vomiting and stomach pain following the incident.

Telangana High Court Steps In
Taking note of the recurring food safety issues, the Telangana High Court recently issued directives to the state government. It emphasized the need to serve nutritious meals to students and ordered a comprehensive report on food poisoning cases in schools.
Despite these measures, the recurrence of such incidents highlights lapses in food safety standards, prompting calls for stricter monitoring and accountability.
