Islamabad: A severe flash flood triggered by heavy rainfall in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has resulted in a tragic incident, with 18 members of a single tourist family reported missing in the Swat River. The sudden surge of floodwaters on Friday overwhelmed the group while they were visiting the area.
According to local authorities, rescue teams have recovered seven bodies so far. The search operation is ongoing across five different locations, involving over 80 rescue personnel. Officials stated that several local residents are also feared to be missing, although exact numbers are yet to be confirmed.
The Swat River and surrounding regions have been witnessing intense rainfall over the past few days, raising concerns about further flooding. Emergency response teams are on high alert, with efforts focused on locating survivors and providing relief to affected communities.
