Uttar Pradesh: A severe road accident in Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday claimed the lives of five people and left seven others seriously injured. The incident occurred on the Bareilly-Haridwar National Highway when a speeding SUV collided with a tempo carrying 12 passengers towards the Amaria Tehsil main office. The impact caused the tempo to lose control and plunge into a roadside drain, while the SUV’s front portion was heavily damaged. The deceased were identified as Vijay (30) from Dalalganj village, Razida Begum (40) and her three-year-old son Hanza from Naugwan Pararia, Janesar (10), and Fareeda from Madanpur, West Bengal, who later died while undergoing treatment.

Police immediately transported the injured to the district hospital, with 17-year-old Faisal in critical condition being shifted to Bareilly for advanced care. Four occupants of the SUV fled the scene, and authorities have seized the vehicle and launched a search for the suspects. District Collector Gyanendra Singh, SP Abhishek Yadav, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Alok Kumar visited the hospital to ensure proper treatment. A case has been registered, and a thorough investigation into the accident is underway.
