Birmingham (Alabama): A major fire broke out in two apartment complexes on Kellam Street in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday evening, leading to the safe rescue of ten Telugu students. The incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. and quickly escalated as flames spread throughout the buildings.
Local fire department personnel responded promptly and managed to contain the blaze. All ten students, reportedly from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, are currently pursuing higher education at the University of Alabama.

According to reports from local media, two of the students sustained serious injuries due to smoke inhalation and have been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a local hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.
One of the students recounted the incident through a social media post, stating, “We all escaped through the back door, but one of our friends got trapped briefly due to dense smoke.” He also confirmed that the fire spread rapidly, and despite attempts to extinguish it, the entire apartment complex was engulfed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further details are awaited. The incident has raised concerns over safety measures in residential complexes housing international students.
