Actors and actresses frequently promote various brands and apps, often driven by lucrative financial deals. However, such endorsements can sometimes lead to legal complications. In a recent case, actress Tamannaah Bhatia was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in connection with the HPJ Token app, which has come under scrutiny for alleged fraud and money laundering activities.

The HPJ Token app, which promotes investments in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency mining, has been categorized as a type of betting platform. Tamannaah had participated in a promotional event for the app and also endorsed the Fair Play betting app, encouraging viewers to watch IPL matches through the platform. This endorsement led to her being summoned by the ED for an inquiry.

The app has been linked to fraudulent activities, with cases registered at Cyber Crime Police Station and Kohima Police Station. Based on these FIRs, the ED launched an investigation into potential money laundering practices. During her questioning, Tamannaah was asked about her involvement with the app, including details of the payment she received for the event and the method of payment. The actress was reportedly questioned for five hours at the ED office in Guwahati, accompanied by her mother.

The ED has clarified that Tamannaah is not considered a suspect in the case, but was called in to provide information about her involvement with HPJ Token.
