Hyderabad: The crackdown on online betting app promoters has intensified in the Telugu states, with multiple cases being registered against individuals endorsing these platforms. Law enforcement agencies have been taking stringent action against celebrities and influencers who promoted betting apps, allegedly misleading the youth with promises of easy earnings.

In a recent development, Panjagutta police have registered cases against 11 more individuals linked to betting app promotions. While the investigation was initially handled by the police, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now stepped in, focusing on financial transactions associated with these apps. The ED is scrutinizing payment records and investigating possible instances of hawala transactions and money laundering.
Hyderabad West Zone DCP Vijay Kumar has issued a strong warning, stating that if any confirmed cases of suicide linked to betting losses emerge, the influencers responsible could face up to 10 years in prison. He affirmed that strict action will be taken against all those involved in the illegal betting operations.
