In a significant statement during the 12th anniversary celebrations of Jana Sena, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan emphasized the need for a three-language policy, asserting that multilingualism would benefit India. He stressed that all states, including Tamil Nadu, should follow a uniform policy. However, these remarks have triggered a controversy.

Veteran actor Prakash Raj responded with counterarguments on social media, while the DMK has launched a sharp attack on Pawan Kalyan’s stance.

DMK Counters Pawan’s Statement

Reacting to Pawan Kalyan’s comments questioning why Tamil films are dubbed in Hindi despite opposing the three-language policy, DMK leader Syed Hafizullah accused the Jana Sena chief of misunderstanding the policy. He clarified that Tamil Nadu has been adhering to the two-language policy since 1968, when the bill was passed in the state assembly. “Pawan wasn’t even born when we passed this bill,” Hafizullah remarked sarcastically.

Pawan Clarifies His Stand

In response to the criticism, Pawan Kalyan clarified that he never opposed the Hindi language but only objected to its forced implementation. He stated that the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) does not mandate Hindi as compulsory but allows students to learn their mother tongue, one Indian language, and one international language.

“Forcing a language or blindly opposing one will not help in achieving India’s national and cultural integration. I have never opposed Hindi as a language but only objected to making it mandatory,” Pawan Kalyan stated in a detailed social media post.
