BJP leader and MP DK Aruna has levelled serious allegations against the previous BRS government, claiming her phone was illegally tapped during its tenure. In an interview with a news channel on Friday, Aruna stated that she received an alert from her iPhone service provider indicating her phone might be under surveillance. She added that she subsequently took precautionary measures. Aruna also alleged that the phones of her personal staff and BJP office employees were tapped, and accused the BRS of targeting opposition leaders while in power.
Calling for accountability, Aruna demanded that the ongoing phone tapping case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for an impartial and transparent inquiry. She further criticised the BRS for politicising the Banakacharla project, accusing the party of using regional sentiments for political gain. Questioning the BRS’s decade-long tenure, she asked what progress had been made on the project during that period. Aruna also alleged that the Congress was attempting to blame the BJP due to TDP’s alliance with the NDA. She cited a recent statement from Union Jal Shakti Minister, asserting that no injustice would be done to Telangana. Aruna expressed hope for a meeting between the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to resolve the issue amicably.
In response to the recent incident in Alampur, where farmers were reportedly handcuffed, Aruna condemned the action as inhumane. She demanded that the government engage directly with the farmers and assure them that no ethanol factory would be established without proper consultation. She also called on the state government to clarify who ordered the arrests and urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to initiate dialogue with the affected farmers.
