Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging his arrest by the CBI. The petition was heard by a bench comprising Justice Neena Bansal and Krishna on Tuesday, where senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi appeared on behalf of Kejriwal. Kejriwal argued that his arrest was unnecessary as he was already in judicial custody, and he was taken into custody without adequate reasons being disclosed. He informed the court that the CBI had registered an FIR in August 2022 and had questioned him for nine hours in April the following year.
After hearing the arguments, the bench issued notices to the CBI, directing it to respond within seven days. The court scheduled the next hearing for September 17. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on May 26 in connection with a case related to the liquor policy and is currently in judicial custody.
