Hyderabad: Political activity in Telangana has intensified with the Assembly Speaker issuing notices to BRS MLAs who defected to the Congress. A few legislators are learned to have responded, citing “development” as the reason for their switch.
Amid the turmoil, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender is reportedly preparing to resign. Nagender, who contested as a Congress MP after winning the Assembly on a BRS ticket, is said to have requested the party leadership to field him from Jubilee Hills in the upcoming elections. He is believed to have assured the high command that he could secure victories in both Jubilee Hills and Khairatabad.
The BRS has been campaigning that by-elections are imminent, heightening interest in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s meeting with defected MLAs. While some expressed confidence about resigning and retaining their seats, most are said to be hesitant.
Among those who met the Chief Minister were Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Danam Nagender, Kale Yadayya, Prakash Goud, Krishna Mohan Reddy, Mahipal Reddy, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Tellam Venkat Rao, and Arikepudi Gandhi.
