Hyderabad: The Telangana Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for all districts in the state following the formation of a cyclonic circulation near the northwest Bay of Bengal, warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Rainfall in some areas could exceed 21 cm, authorities said.

An orange alert has also been issued for the northern and southern coastal districts and other regions, where rainfall is expected between 12 to 20 cm. The system is currently centered about 60 km south-southeast of Puri and east of Gopalpur, gradually moving northwest and expected to cross the coast near Puri and Kalingapatnam. The circulation, forming at approximately 3.1 km above sea level, is influencing weather patterns across Maharashtra, Telangana, and Karnataka, prompting authorities to advise vigilance and preparedness for potential flooding and disruptions.
