CS Shanti Kumari, responding to notices concerning ineligible beneficiaries of welfare schemes in Telangana, has announced stringent measures to address the issue. The Chief Secretary emphasized that the government has become aware of instances where ineligible individuals are availing themselves of welfare benefits meant for deserving recipients. In response, CS Shanti Kumari stated that comprehensive guidelines would be issued promptly to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive these benefits.
Officials have been instructed not to issue recovery notices until these guidelines are formally issued. Additionally, CS Shanti Kumari highlighted that the state government intends to discuss the matter of benefits and recovery from ineligible beneficiaries during the upcoming assembly sessions.
The government’s scrutiny has revealed misuse of Aasara pensions, originally intended for impoverished individuals below the poverty line in the state. Investigations have uncovered that government employees, their relatives, and recipients of government family pensions have been wrongfully receiving Aasara benefits in violation of regulations. Consequently, an inquiry has been ordered to investigate these discrepancies.
Amidst public scrutiny and criticism, the government has committed to establishing clear and transparent guidelines to prevent further misuse of welfare schemes and ensure that only those truly in need benefit from state support.
