Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) [CPI(ML)] has called for statewide observance of Comrade Chandra Pulla Reddy’s 41st death anniversary on November 9. The party also urged members to organize memorial meetings for martyrs across all villages from November 1 to 8.
In a statement, CPI(ML) Resistance Secretary Anand said that Comrade Chandra Pulla Reddy dedicated his life to fighting against opportunism and autocracy. He noted that Reddy adapted Marxism, Leninism, and Maoist ideology to India’s unique socio-political conditions and formulated the framework for resistance struggles.
Anand highlighted that Chandra Pulla Reddy led movements against non-tribal landlords, feudal elements, village officers, and forest authorities, redistributing over three lakh acres of land to landless peasants. Within the party’s central and state committees, he upheld the principles of democratic centralism to resolve internal differences.
He further stated that Reddy opposed the extremist “class enemy annihilation” line introduced by Charu Mazumdar and protected the Godavari Valley resistance, forest movements, and self-defense groups. Despite repeated attempts by central and state governments to suppress the revolutionary movement, people’s resistance continued to safeguard it from police and paramilitary oppression.
Anand added that Comrade C.P. Reddy expanded the revolutionary movement from forest regions to the plains and thwarted internal conspiracies aimed at weakening the party. By emphasizing ideological debate and political struggle, he preserved party unity and defeated moderate forces led by leaders such as Devulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Satyanarayan Singh, Paila Vasudeva Rao, Chandram, Ravi, Vemulapalli Venkataramaiah, and D.V. Krishna Reddy.
“Comrade C.P. Reddy consistently analyzed national and international developments, and his writings remain relevant even today. On the occasion of his 41st death anniversary, we pledge to carry forward his revolutionary thought and principles,” Anand said.
