New Delhi/Visakhapatnam: India is witnessing a resurgence in COVID-19 cases, with nearly 5,000 infections reported across the country as of June 5. Health officials recorded approximately 1,200 new cases on June 4 alone, sparking renewed public concern as the daily tally continues to climb in several states.
The rising trend has triggered fears among citizens, with authorities urging precautionary measures. The increase is seen as a potential sign of a new wave, though officials are yet to confirm its scale or severity.

Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, a fresh case of a new Omicron variant has been detected in Visakhapatnam. A 14-year-old girl tested positive for the strain and is currently being treated at KGH Hospital. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sivanandam confirmed that this case is one among three new infections linked to the latest Omicron variant in the region.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, as the emergence of the new variant has led to heightened health surveillance and public awareness efforts.
