Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been dealt an unexpected blow as a Bengaluru court has directed Tilaknagar police to register a case against her. The order came from the Legislative Members’ Court, following a complaint by Adarsh Iyer of Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad, who alleged that Sitharaman threatened prominent businessmen for funds and coerced them into transferring large sums of money to the BJP’s account through electoral bonds.
Despite Iyer’s attempt to file a complaint at Tilaknagar police station, authorities allegedly refused to take action, prompting him to approach the court. After reviewing the case, Judge Santosh Gajanana Hegde ordered police to file an FIR against Sitharaman and adjourned the next hearing to October 10. It remains to be seen whether the police will act on the court’s directive and register the case against the Finance Minister.
