BRS Chief KCR has received another setback in the Medigadda Barrage damage issue. The Bhupalpalli Principal Sessions Court, after examining the revision petition filed by Nagavelli Rajalingamurthy, has issued notices to KCR, Harish Rao, and eight others. The court has also directed all of them to appear for the hearing on September 5.
According to the complaint by Nagavelli Rajalingamurthy, he reported the Medigadda Barrage damage to the local police station on October 25, 2023. Despite filing complaints with the district SP and the DGP, no FIR was registered, and no action was taken. Initially, when he filed a petition in the First Class Principal Judicial Magistrate Court, his petition was dismissed without explanation, prompting him to approach the High Court. He was then advised to file a revision petition in the district court, which he has now done.
The Assistant Engineer reported the collapse of a pillar and cracks in another pillar in Block 7 of the barrage to the local police station. However, the police, suspecting the involvement of extremist forces, registered an FIR (No. 174/2023) under Section 427 of the IPC and closed it within a day, as detailed in Rajalingamurthy’s petition.
The petition highlights that KCR, Harish Rao, former Irrigation Secretary Rajat Kumar, CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal, Engineer-in-Chief Hariram, Chief Engineer Sridhar, and Krishna Reddy, head of the construction company ‘MEGA’ which secured the project contract, as well as L&T representatives involved in the barrage construction, are responsible. The Bhupalpalli Principal Sessions Judge has issued notices to all these individuals. Whether they will attend the hearing scheduled for September 5 remains to be seen.
