Suryapet/Jagtial:The Congress party has suspended six leaders for alleged anti-party activities during the Huzurnagar municipal elections. Suryapet District Congress Committee president Gudipati Narsayya said the action was taken against leaders who failed to campaign for official party candidates and instead worked against the party, violating organisational discipline.

Those suspended include Tammishetti Ramu, Rayala Venkateshwarlu, Amaravarapu Praveen, Ranabothu Ramireddy, Daggupati Ramireddy, Sheikh Saida Mesthri, Chinthakayalu Ramu and Vallapudasu Krishna, covering multiple wards. Narsayya said preliminary evidence showed they either supported rival candidates or acted independently, prompting immediate disciplinary action. “No individual is bigger than the party. Anyone harming party interests through indiscipline will not be spared,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, reports from Jagtial suggest that former MLC and senior Congress leader Jeevan Reddy is also under scrutiny for allegedly encouraging rebel candidates in the municipal polls despite warnings from party seniors. The issue has reportedly reached the party leadership, and it remains to be seen whether action will be taken against him. Jeevan Reddy has openly expressed dissatisfaction in recent months, particularly over Jagtial MLA Sanjay, who joined Congress after winning on a BRS ticket.

The suspensions have sparked discussions within local Congress circles about the possible impact of internal differences on election results. However, the district committee maintained that loyalty would be prioritised and warned that similar strict measures would continue against any future anti-party activities.
