Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay launched a strong attack on corruption, making key remarks aimed at instilling courage among the public with the goal of uprooting corruption from society. He urged people to refuse, without hesitation, if anyone demands a bribe for government-related work, assuring them that his government would stand fully behind them. This marked Vijay’s first visit to Karur since the stampede incident that occurred there.
“If anyone comes to you demanding a bribe, tell them directly that you will not pay. I will stand with you,” Vijay said in a striking declaration. He made it clear that there would be absolutely no place for corruption under the TVK government, calling it a central objective of his administration. He called on citizens to fight corruption as a shared responsibility and to stand up against bribery harassment without fear.
Since assuming office as Chief Minister, Vijay has been making strong efforts to ensure transparent and honest governance. As part of this push, reports indicate that the government is considering a new policy to reward citizens who honestly come forward with evidence of bribery demands. Political analysts believe the Chief Minister’s remarks were intended to send a clear warning to government officials and contractors.
Vijay cautioned that the old practice of under-the-table dealings would no longer be tolerated, warning that strict action would be taken against officials found guilty of wrongdoing. His comments have since gone viral on social media, with many praising him for bringing a fresh approach that departs from conventional politics.
During his district tour, Vijay visited Karur to understand local issues while presenting his vision for good governance to the public. Officials stated that anyone facing a bribery demand in Tamil Nadu should gather appropriate evidence and file a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau or relevant authorities, adding that the Chief Minister’s office would directly intervene to ensure justice in such matters.
