In recent developments, former minister and senior BRS leader Harish Rao has been placed under house arrest by police. This action follows a series of events, including confrontations between MLAs Kaushik Reddy and Arekapudi Gandhi, and subsequent arrests.
On Thursday, tensions escalated with a public altercation outside Kaushik Reddy’s residence, leading to police action. To prevent further unrest on Friday, authorities preemptively imposed house arrests on key figures, including Harish Rao.
Harish Rao was detained at his residence in Kokapet, with police blocking access to visiting BRS leaders. Additionally, former minister Mallareddy was also placed under house arrest at his residence in Shambhipur, with police preventing him from leaving.
Statewide, BRS leaders have faced preemptive arrests. Several BRS officials from Karimnagar district, including city president Hari Shankar and former market committee chairman Praveen, have been detained to avoid disruptions.
Harish Rao has expressed strong disapproval of the preemptive arrests, criticizing the government for targeting BRS leaders and activists. He condemned the arrests as undemocratic and demanded the immediate release of detained BRS members. Rao also called for the arrest of those involved in the attack on MLA Kaushik Reddy, including MLA Gandhi and their associates.
In response to the ongoing political turmoil and the recent escalation involving MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has voiced concerns about the state of law and order. He accused certain individuals of attempting to disrupt peace and security out of frustration over losing power and urged the DGP to address these issues seriously.
