Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has issued a series of key directives aimed at transforming Andhra Pradesh into a prominent maritime hub. During a review meeting with officials, the CM emphasized the importance of utilizing the state’s extensive coastline and implementing the goals outlined in the Maritime Policy 2024.
CM’s Key Directions:
1. Focus on the development of high-capacity ports through the Hub-and-Spoke model.
2. Integrate industries, the Roads & Buildings (R&B) department, and the tourism sector in port-proximal areas.
3. Link the state’s three industrial corridors to facilitate future growth.
4. Engage the public as stakeholders in infrastructure development.
5. Promote the P4 model for the expansion of fishing harbors and ports.
6. Attract global companies to set up shipbuilding and ship repair industries in the state.
7. Implement a hybrid model for inland waterways, including Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax services.
8. Integrate maritime tourism and green energy initiatives in the coastal sector.
9. Partner with institutions like Indian Maritime University (IMU), CEMS, and IITs for skill development and research to establish a Maritime University in the state.
10. Introduce best practices for arbitration and dispute resolution in the maritime sector through sectoral reforms.
