New Delhi: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan over the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, China has issued a stern warning to India, threatening to obstruct the flow of Brahmaputra river waters. This diplomatic escalation follows India’s decision to withdraw from the decades-old Indus Water-sharing agreement, effectively halting water flow to Pakistan in response to recent terror incidents including the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindhoor.
Victor Zhikai Gao, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization, voiced strong criticism against India’s move, stating that if India could restrict water flow to Pakistan, China too could prevent Brahmaputra waters from reaching India. His remarks come as China publicly aligns itself with Pakistan on the contentious water-sharing issue.
