Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken serious exception to the growing indiscipline among party legislators, warning that those who believe they won elections based on their personal image rather than the party’s support are free to contest independently. Addressing party leaders during a four-hour review meeting at the TDP central office on Friday, Chandrababu cautioned that giving tickets to individuals lacking ideological understanding could lead to issues like those seen in Tiruvuru. He asserted that such leaders would realize the value of party backing only when it is withdrawn.
Expressing anger over the dispute in NTR district’s Tiruvuru constituency, Chandrababu directed TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao to summon MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) before the disciplinary committee and obtain explanations separately. He sought a detailed report on the matter and warned that strict action would follow if the differences were not resolved after his return from a foreign visit.
Responding to the controversy surrounding MLA M.S. Raju’s comments on the Bhagavad Gita, Naidu advised legislators to be cautious with their statements as they reflect on the party’s image. He urged leaders to train the cadre to be disciplined and service-oriented, emphasizing that politics should not be viewed as a means of personal enrichment. Naidu also criticized politicians involved in the liquor trade, stating that money earned through such means does not last long, citing the previous government’s liquor scam as an example.
