In response to the heavy rains and subsequent flooding, the central government has allocated ₹5,858 crores in financial assistance to 14 states, including the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Of this allocation, Telangana is set to receive ₹416.80 crores, while Andhra Pradesh will receive ₹1,036 crores from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF). Maharashtra has been granted the highest amount, totaling ₹1,432 crores.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, accompanied by a central team, recently visited the Telugu states to assess the damage caused by the floods. Following his visit, Minister Nara Lokesh expressed his gratitude for the prompt announcement of assistance, which came within 24 hours. He extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Minister Chouhan for their swift response to the situation.
