CBI officials visited the residence of Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi, in Hyderabad today to serve notices issued by the Delhi High Court in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. The action follows a petition filed by the agency after the Rouse Avenue Court recently dismissed charges against Kavitha, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and others, citing insufficient attention to the evidence presented by the CBI.
In Telangana, CBI officials also visited the residence of Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, serving notices to him and his son. Kavitha was not at home during the visit, and her husband Anil accepted the notices on her behalf. Reports indicate that Kavitha is required to appear in court on March 16.
The Rouse Avenue Court’s verdict has triggered nationwide discussion, with Kavitha and Kejriwal describing the case as politically motivated. Kejriwal expressed his distress over the false corruption allegations and said the court’s decision reaffirmed his integrity. He also demanded Delhi elections and issued a challenge that he would retire from politics if the BJP won more than ten seats.
