Hyderabad: A massive scam has been uncovered in the Commercial Taxes Department in Telangana, with police identifying irregularities amounting to approximately Rs. 1,000 crore in input tax credit payments. A forensic audit revealed that 75 companies were involved in these irregularities.
The scam came to light following a complaint by Commercial Tax Commissioner Ravi. Subsequently, the CCS police registered a case against former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and several others.
Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and Deputy Commissioners of Commercial Taxes have also been implicated. The CCS police have registered a case under sections 406, 409, and 120(b) of the IT Act against the accused and have launched an investigation.
