Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has achieved a strong showing in the recent municipal elections across Telangana, according to BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR). Speaking at a media briefing at Telangana Bhavan, he stated that the party is on track to win over 2,500 municipal seats, highlighting fierce contests in several areas where BRS candidates overcame stiff opposition.
KTR alleged irregularities in Choutuppal and Gadwal, claiming that party candidates won despite attempts by authorities to block them, including a four-time recount in Gadwal that was decided by a single vote. He noted that BRS had previously secured victories in 122 municipalities and emphasized that the party has now emerged as the main opposition to Congress and BJP in the state.
Looking ahead, KTR said BRS aims to become the single largest party in 15 areas, will support CPI in Newguda, and anticipates success in the upcoming GHMC elections. He also accused Congress and BJP of working together in some constituencies, adding that the significant wins reflect public dissatisfaction with the ruling government’s performance.
