New Delhi: BRS MLC Kavitha, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a liquor scam case, fell ill suddenly on Tuesday. She was promptly rushed to Deen Dayal Hospital by the jail staff, where doctors diagnosed her with a fever and are reportedly treating her.
Kavitha was arrested on March 15, 2024, related to the Delhi liquor scam and has been in judicial remand in Tihar Jail for four months. Initially, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case against her, followed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Kavitha is actively seeking bail in these cases. Recently, the Rouse Avenue Court postponed the trial against her in the CBI case. The court deferred the hearing on the CBI’s supplementary chargesheet and default bail pleas regarding Kavitha’s role in the scam to July 22. The CBI informed the court that it had filed a supplementary chargesheet containing evidence against Kavitha and requested the court to consider it.
Judge Bhaveja stated that the matter would be heard. Kavitha’s lawyer, Nitesh Rana, argued that there were errors in the CBI chargesheet, but the CBI’s counsel countered that there were no errors. The Rouse Avenue Court has scheduled the next hearing for July 22.
