Hyderabad, May 12: BRS senior leader and former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy has alleged that the Central and State governments are jointly engaged in a conspiracy to endanger the UNESCO-recognised Ramappa Temple and its surrounding areas through a proposed coal mining project.

Addressing the media, Reddy pointed out that the proposed open-cast coal mine is situated just 4.5 kilometers from the historic Ramappa Temple. He warned that such a project poses a significant risk to the structural integrity and heritage of the centuries-old monument.

“The coal mining initiative proposed by the Centre threatens the very foundation of the Ramappa Temple. It is our collective responsibility to protect this invaluable heritage site,” Reddy said.

On behalf of the BRS, he demanded that the government immediately withdraw the mining proposal in order to preserve the sanctity and historical importance of the temple and its environs.
