New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering cancelling India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh in August, in the wake of recent terror attacks in Pahalgam. Sources indicate that the board is assessing the security situation and may call off the tour as a precautionary measure.
As per the original schedule, India was set to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two T20 Internationals during the Bangladesh series. However, the deteriorating security environment along India’s borders has prompted the BCCI to reassess its plans.
In a related development, speculation is growing that the Asia Cup, slated for September, might also face cancellation. Relations between India and Pakistan have been further strained after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, and BCCI is reportedly reluctant to participate in matches involving Pakistan.
The board has maintained its stance of not engaging in bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan following the attack. It may be recalled that Team India has not toured Pakistan since 2008. Even in the recent ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India opted not to play any matches in Pakistan and went on to win the title by defeating New Zealand in the final held in Dubai.
