Bangladesh police had earlier claimed that Hadi’s alleged killer, Karim Masud, had fled to India via Meghalaya. The claim was reinforced by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) during a press conference. However, fresh developments have cast doubt on this narrative, raising questions about the suspect’s actual whereabouts and involvement in the murder.
Karim Masud recently released a video asserting that he is not in India but currently in Dubai. In the video, he denied any involvement in Hadi’s killing and claimed that he was coerced into being implicated in the case. Karim stated that his connection with Hadi was purely professional, limited to providing political donations for government contracts, and insisted that he had no reason to harm the student leader. He further alleged that the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami party was behind the murder.
Following the video release, Dhaka police have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend Karim internationally. Meanwhile, seven individuals have already been arrested in connection with the case. Authorities are carefully investigating whether Karim’s claims are factual or an attempt to mislead the ongoing probe into Hadi’s murder.
