The allegations that adulterated ghee was used in the preparation of Tirupati Laddu have caused significant controversy, sparking widespread debate across the country. In response, the Andhra Pradesh government has registered cases against all those involved, including a case against AR Dairy, which supplied the ghee for the laddus.
Recently, AR Dairy’s Managing Director, Rajasekharan, approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail concerning these cases. Reports suggest that Rajasekharan requested the court to refrain from taking any hasty action leading to his arrest.
In his petition, Rajasekharan stated that the Food Safety and Standards Authority failed to follow legal procedures in collecting and analyzing the ghee samples. He argued that filing a case without seeking any explanation from him regarding the ghee adulteration allegations is contrary to the principles of natural justice. Rajasekharan claims that there is no evidence supporting the accusations against him and alleges that the case was politically motivated.
He expressed concern that his arrest by the police would result in irreparable damage. Therefore, he requested the court to grant him anticipatory bail, assuring that he would abide by any conditions set by the court. The petition is likely to be heard in the Andhra Pradesh High Court tomorrow.
