Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Sub-Committee has revoked land allocations for 13 companies in the Amaravati capital region. The decision was taken during a meeting at the Amaravati Secretariat, chaired by Minister Narayana.
Land Allocation Review and Key Decisions
During the review, the committee examined land allotments made to various entities in Amaravati. Minister Narayana stated that a total of 131 companies were allotted land, with 44 companies receiving allocations between 2014 and 2019.
Following the review:
– 31 companies will retain their land.
– 13 companies will have their allocations canceled.
– 2 companies will have their land locations altered.
– 16 companies will see modifications or expansions in their allotted land.
The committee cited failure to commence operations as the primary reason for revoking allocations for the 13 firms. Minister Narayana assured that land will be provided to companies genuinely committed to Amaravati’s development.
Amaravati Development Through Land Sales
Minister Narayana stated that Amaravati’s development will not require massive state investments. Instead, the government will sell CRDA-developed plots to fund infrastructure projects.
He criticized the previous YSRCP government for stalling capital development and delaying projects due to legal complications. He confirmed that tenders for ₹48,000 crore worth of projects have been finalized, and agreements will be signed within days, allowing construction to begin. He attributed the delay to election code restrictions.
No Financial Burden on the State
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav emphasized that public funds will not be used for Amaravati’s construction. Instead, the project will be financed through land sales. He noted that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has implemented a sustainable model, contrasting it with the previous YSRCP government’s demand for Rs 1 lakh crore in funding.
