In a significant legislative move, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly has approved several important bills, including the Land Titling Act Repeal Bill and the YSR Health University Renaming Bill. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had pledged to repeal the Land Title Act during their election campaign, a promise now fulfilled by the coalition government following the defeat of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
During today’s ongoing session, Minister Nara Lokesh made noteworthy comments regarding previous government actions, particularly criticizing the ‘Nadu Nedu’ programme undertaken by the YSRCP regime. Suspecting massive corruption, the coalition government has decided to conduct an inquiry into the programme. Lokesh alleged that crores of rupees were looted in the name of school development under the ‘Nadu Nedu’ initiative.
“The work done in two phases was entirely corrupt and substandard,” Lokesh stated during the Question Hour. He pointed out that the third phase had not even commenced and highlighted that Rs 900 crore remained tied up in pending bills. He also announced that from the next academic year, a new system would be introduced in the education sector, with colleges from KG to PG being mapped. The Assembly session continues, focusing on various legislative and administrative matters.
