Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun addressed the media on Sunday to respond to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s remarks regarding the tragic Sandhya Theater incident. He began by extending his condolences and apologies to the families of Revathi and Sri Tej, expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy. “What happened is heartbreaking. I am someone who wishes for people to leave theaters with a smile. No one could feel the pain of such an incident more than I do,” he said, adding that Sri Tej’s recovery was a welcome relief.
Clarification on Misinformation
Allu Arjun dismissed allegations of negligence, attributing the rumors to miscommunication. “I thank the government for its support, but I am deeply hurt by the false narratives being created about me. In my 20-year career, have I ever acted irresponsibly? My character is being unnecessarily maligned,” he said.
The actor clarified that his visit to Sandhya Theater was planned and undertaken with necessary permissions. “I have been visiting Sandhya Theater for 30 years. Claims that I went without permission are baseless,” he stated.
No Police Intervention
Refuting reports of police involvement, Allu Arjun explained, “I did not organize a roadshow. As soon as my car stopped near the theater, people gathered around. I instructed my team to ensure safety and left immediately upon noticing the growing crowd. The police did not approach me at any point.”
He also clarified that he was unaware of Revathi’s death until he returned home. “I was informed by my team later in the night. I was advised not to visit the hospital to avoid legal complications,” he explained.
Emotional Statement
The actor expressed his distress over the allegations, citing his history of personally visiting fans’ families during similar tragedies. “In the past, I have always visited fans’ families to pay my respects. Why would I not do the same now? The accusations that I did not care are deeply upsetting,” he said.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun canceled all promotional activities and sent his father and director Sukumar to the hospital with special permission to check on Sri Tej.
In an emotional conclusion, Allu Arjun stated, “I create films for audiences to enjoy and take pride in. It is painful to see baseless accusations pulling us down when the focus should be on bringing people together.”
