Facing mounting scrutiny over recent safety lapses and operational disruptions, Air India has announced a series of service reductions across both domestic and international sectors. The airline stated it would suspend operations on three international routes and reduce flight frequency on 19 domestic routes until July 15. The decision comes as part of a broader strategy to stabilise operations and minimise last-minute inconveniences to passengers. Additionally, escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia—especially after U.S. airstrikes on Iran—have forced the closure of Iranian, Iraqi, and Israeli airspace, impacting the carrier’s ability to operate certain routes.
Specific cancellations include Bengaluru–Singapore (AI2392/2393), Pune–Singapore (AI2111/2110), and Mumbai–Bagdogra (AI551/552). Adjustments include reducing weekly flights between Mumbai and Bengaluru from 91 to 84, Delhi and Bengaluru from 116 to 113, and Bengaluru and Chandigarh from 14 to 7. Air India confirmed that 38 international flights will be scaled down between June 21 and July 15. Despite the temporary cutbacks, the airline will continue operating approximately 600 daily flights using narrow-body aircraft on 120 domestic and short-haul international routes. The move is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency amid recent incidents and enhancing overall reliability.
