In the wake of the attack on the Collector in Lagacharla, the government has issued orders for the transfer of Parigi DSP Karunasagar Reddy. The DSP has been attached to the DGP’s office.
On November 11, a meeting was held near Lagacharla to discuss land acquisition for setting up pharmaceutical companies, with the Collector and other officials in attendance. During the meeting, some farmers approached the Collector, seeking to hold discussions with the local population. However, as the Collector and officials entered the village, they were suddenly attacked by a group of individuals who vandalized their vehicles with large stones.
The state government has expressed serious concern regarding the incident. In response, several individuals, including former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy, have been arrested. There is widespread criticism that the negligence of local police and intelligence agencies contributed to the escalation of the situation. Investigations have revealed that meetings were held in the village a week prior to the attack to provoke unrest. Despite these developments, local police and intelligence agencies failed to assess the situation, prompting strong reactions from the government.
Amidst growing concerns, rumors have been circulating about potential actions against police officials, including the possibility of disciplinary measures against the state’s DGP. The government has already taken action against the Parigi DSP, and further actions against other officials are expected once the situation stabilizes.
