Washington, D.C.: Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, marking his return to the highest office after winning the 2024 presidential election. Trump, the Republican Party leader, secured a decisive victory with 312 electoral votes in the November 5 elections.

The swearing-in ceremony was held in the Capitol’s Rotunda, with Chief Justice of the Supreme Court administering the oath. Trump assumed office at noon local time (10:30 PM IST). Prior to the presidential oath, J.D. Vance was sworn in as Vice President.
This is Trump’s second term as President, with his first tenure commencing in 2017. The ceremony witnessed attendance from prominent figures, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sundar Pichai. Representing India, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was present.
Former U.S. Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama were also in attendance, alongside other dignitaries from around the world.
