The central government has declared a seven-day national mourning period to honor the statesman. A cabinet meeting is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m., where a formal resolution of condolence will be adopted.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, who served as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996 in P.V. Narasimha Rao’s cabinet, was instrumental in implementing landmark economic reforms that transformed India’s financial landscape.
