Jared Isaacman, the 41-year-old founder of Shift4, a Pennsylvania-based payment processing company, has been nominated by U.S. President Donald Trump as the new Chief Administrator of NASA. Isaacman, a close associate of Elon Musk, has made history by traveling to space twice as part of commercial SpaceX missions, although he has never worked at NASA. With a net worth of $1.9 billion, according to Forbes, Isaacman is recognized as a global billionaire.
Bill Nelson currently holds the position of NASA Chief Administrator, a role he has served in since 2021. Nelson, a former U.S. Senator from Florida, also served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1979 to 1991.
Under Isaacman’s leadership, NASA is set to embark on major missions, including human transportation to the Moon, in collaboration with SpaceX. As the U.S. faces increasing competition from China in lunar exploration, Isaacman is expected to guide NASA in overcoming these challenges and advancing space exploration efforts.
I am honored to receive President Trump’s @realDonaldTrump nomination to serve as the next Administrator of NASA. Having been fortunate to see our amazing planet from space, I am passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history.
On my last mission…
